IMPON (ஐம்பொன்) in Tamil means “five metals.”

The Panchalogam alloy traditionally contains:

Traditional Manufacturing Method

3. Heating the mold so the wax melts and drains out
4. Pouring molten Panchalogam metal into the mold
5. Breaking the mold and polishing the final statue

This technique became famous during the Chola dynasty, known for its bronze sculptures.
